The Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youth Groups has pledged to mobilize votes for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Katung in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The coalition made the pledge in appreciation of the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan.
Luke Duniya, the coalition coordinator, made the announcement during a press conference held on Friday in Kaduna. He expressed that the decision to support the leaders in the 2027 polls was motivated by the positive impact the two institutions would have on the people of Southern Kaduna.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, and with the establishment of these two institutions, we will mobilize for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Katung ahead of the 2027 polls,” Duniya said.
The Federal University of Applied Sciences in Southern Kaduna was approved by President Tinubu, and it is set to begin operations soon. The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has directed that the university be included in the 2025 budget for a September launch. Additionally, Vice President Kashim Shettima recently mentioned that discussions were ongoing regarding the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan.
Duniya praised Senator Katung for his outstanding leadership, foresight, and dedication to the development of Southern Kaduna, noting that the creation of the university and the medical center would significantly improve the region by providing quality education, employment opportunities, and enhanced healthcare services.
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Katung for their tireless efforts in making this dream a reality,” he said.
Furthermore, Duniya commended Vice President Shettima for his commitment to the development of Southern Kaduna, quoting his statement that “President Bola Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and the people of Southern Kaduna at heart.”
The coalition coordinator also passed a vote of confidence in Senator Katung, acknowledging his strong leadership qualities and dedication to the region’s growth and development.
