South Africa’s Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos, has announced his final squad ahead of the Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
Broos revealed the squad as preparations intensify for the two pivotal matches scheduled at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
The team’s first fixture is against Lesotho on 5 September, with the Southern African nation opting to play at the Free State Stadium as their temporary home ground.
Just four days later, on 9 September, Bafana Bafana will host the Super Eagles, who have struggled in the ongoing qualifiers.
Currently, Bafana Bafana lead Group C with 13 points from six games, holding a five-point advantage over second-placed Rwanda and a comfortable margin above third-placed Benin.
The team is in a commanding position as they approach these crucial encounters.
By contrast, the Super Eagles occupy a disappointing fourth place with just seven points. Before meeting Bafana Bafana, they will host Rwanda in Uyo on 6 September.
In the reverse fixture in Kigali, a brace from Victor Osimhen secured a 2-0 win for Nigeria, while the first encounter with South Africa in Uyo ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to a second-half equaliser from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Nigeria could also be without their first-choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, for both matches against Rwanda and South Africa due to injury. Nwabali was forced off during a league game for Chippa United after sustaining an injury.
