South Africa feel no pressure to beat Super Eagles – Foster

South Africa forward, Lyle Foster, insisted that Bafana Bafana are not feeling any pressure as they prepare for their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria.

The South African squad heads into the encounter buoyed by a convincing 3-0 win over Lesotho last Friday, while Nigeria revived their qualification hopes with a narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda at home on Saturday.

Bafana in Positive Mood
Foster believes their recent success allows the team to approach the upcoming fixture with calmness.

“I don’t necessarily think there’s pressure on us. I think at the moment we are where we are in the group and that’s a positive,” he told safa.net.

“I think pressure is on the guys who are trying to get to us, but that doesn’t mean we should take our foot off the gas or take our foot off the pedal.”

Foster Urges Winning Mentality
The Burnley striker also stressed the importance of entering the game with a winning mentality.

“I think that we should just have the same mentality still and keep steady, keep playing game by game, staying humble and just like I said, taking the game as it comes. I don’t necessarily think there’s pressure,” Foster added.

With the clash set to be a decisive moment in the group standings, Bafana Bafana will aim to carry their momentum forward, while Nigeria will look to continue their recent resurgence under coach Eric Chelle.

The match promises to be a high-stakes encounter as both sides fight for World Cup qualification.
