Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed Shettima’s arrival on Monday.
The Vice President landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport and was received by a high-profile delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani; and Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa.
Vice President Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He will deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in key high-level meetings during the event.
The 79th UNGA, themed “Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations”,
will be held from September 24 to 28, 2024.
It offers Nigeria a platform to address global issues and strengthen international partnerships.
