Former Oyo State governor, Rashidi Ladoja, is set to ascend the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Government sources confirmed on Wednesday that Governor Seyi Makinde has approved Ladoja’s nomination by the Olubadan-In-Council, paving the way for his coronation.
A delegation from the state government was said to have met with the monarch-in-waiting and kingmakers at his Bodija residence earlier in the day to fine-tune preparations for the historic event.
“The coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland has been scheduled for September 26,” a reliable government official told our correspondent on condition of anonymity.
“Mapo Hall will host traditional and political dignitaries from across the country for the installation ceremony.”
Media aide to the Olubadan-designate, Adeola Oloko confirmed the development. “Yes, it is true. Baba will be crowned on Friday, September 26, 2025. All arrangements are in top gear to give Ibadan a befitting ceremony,” he said.
Ladoja, who previously served as governor of Oyo State between 2003 and 2007, met with members of the Olubadan-In-Council on Tuesday ahead of the state government’s announcement.
