Super Falcons striker Esther Okoronkwo has expressed her joy after playing a key role in AFC Toronto’s triumph in the maiden edition of the National Super League Supporters’ Shield.
AFC Toronto emerged champions following a 2-1 victory over Montreal Roses last weekend, with Okoronkwo setting up Nikayla Small’s decisive goal just three minutes before full-time.
The 28-year-old forward couldn’t hide her excitement at being part of the team’s historic success.
“It feels really good. It’s really amazing. We worked very hard for it from the beginning of the season, so to see our dream accomplished makes us very happy,”, she told the Northern Super League.
Okoronkwo also extended heartfelt gratitude to the club’s fans for their unwavering support throughout the campaign.
“Thank you so much for always supporting us and coming out, whether it’s hot, rainy, or cold. You’ve always been here for us, and we truly appreciate it,” she added.
