Italian Serie A side, Lecce, continued their impressive start to the season on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over Monza at the Stadio Via del Mare.
Lecce made a blistering start as Lassana Coulibaly opened the scoring after just four minutes, heading home from Ivan Ilić’s corner.
The hosts doubled their advantage seven minutes later when Tiago Gabriel rose to meet another Ilić corner and headed past Monza goalkeeper Demba Thiam.
Monza responded in the 20th minute through Ricardo Mangas, who finished at the far post after Samuele Birindelli’s delivery across the face of goal.
Lecce restored their two-goal cushion shortly afterwards, with Coulibaly completing his brace by turning Danilo Veiga’s cross home from close range.
Monza pushed for a comeback after the interval and eventually reduced the deficit again in the 89th minute when substitute Exequiel Zeballos marked his debut with a low free-kick that beat Wladimiro Falcone.
Despite late pressure from the visitors, Lecce held on to secure all three points and extend their strong opening to the campaign.
