Serie A: Lazio sink Bologna 2-0, end winless run

SS Lazio ended their six-game winless run in away Serie A meetings with Bologna FC, as a late brace from Kenneth Taylor secured a 2-0 win at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

In a tightly contested battle between two sides chasing European places, the first half produced few clear chances as both teams largely neutralised each other.

Lazio enjoyed more of the ball early on, with Adam Marusic coming closest when he met a loose opening inside the box but could only prod his effort straight at Federico Ravaglia.

Bologna gradually settled after a slow start and began to grow into the contest.

The hosts nearly struck first in spectacular fashion on 20 minutes when Nikola Moro picked up possession from distance and unleashed a powerful drive that rattled the frame of the goal, leaving Edoardo Motta beaten but fortunate.

Lazio’s main attacking threat in the opening period came through counterattacks, with Marusic repeatedly involved on the right flank.

He later broke into a promising position but failed to pick out Daniel Maldini, instead sending a cross-shot just over the bar.

After the break, Bologna were handed a golden opportunity when a misplaced pass from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was seized upon by Santiago Castro, who was then brought down in the box.

However, Lazio goalkeeper Motta quickly made amends by diving low to save Riccardo Orsolini’s penalty, keeping the visitors level.

That moment proved pivotal, swinging momentum back towards Lazio as the game edged towards a stalemate. But in the final 20 minutes, Kenneth Taylor broke the deadlock in style, showing composure inside the area to place his finish into the bottom corner on 72 minutes.

Bologna were still reeling when Taylor struck again ten minutes later, rounding Ravaglia before calmly rolling the ball into an empty net to seal the result.

The victory extends Lazio’s winning streak to three matches and moves them within touching distance of the European spots, while they also climb above Bologna into ninth place, leaving the hosts just behind them in the standings.
