Lautaro Martínez was involved in two goals as newly crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan eased to a commanding 3–0 victory over Lazio, stretching their unbeaten head-to-head run against the Biancocelesti to nine matches.
With both sides making changes ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final, Inter still showed no signs of easing off after sealing the Scudetto on Sunday.
They struck early, taking the lead in the sixth minute when Marcus Thuram flicked on Yann Bisseck’s long throw-in and Martínez calmly finished, his third appearance since returning from injury in February.
Thuram soon came close himself, sending a powerful effort into the side netting as Inter continued to slice through the Lazio defence.
The hosts attempted to respond, with Tijjani Noslin testing the goalkeeper from a free-kick, but Inter remained largely untroubled and still looked dangerous, including a blocked attempt from Thuram after a neat move involving Mario Gila at the other end.
Nicolo Barella also went close with a free-kick that narrowly missed the target, before Inter doubled their lead just before half-time.
Martínez was again central to the move, combining smoothly with Andy Diouf before setting up Petar Sucic, who finished comfortably from the edge of the box.
Inter coach Cristian Chivu made changes after the break, but his side continued to control proceedings, with Bisseck pushing forward and forcing a save.
Lazio’s task became even harder just before the hour mark when Alessio Romagnoli was shown a red card following a VAR review for a studs-up challenge on Ange-Yoan Bonny.
Despite that setback, the hosts tried to rally, with Gustav Isaksen coming close, but Carlos Augusto produced a vital clearance to maintain Inter’s advantage. Lazio continued to press but lacked precision, with further efforts either off target or saved.
Inter then sealed the win in the 76th minute when Henrikh Mkhitaryan found space and finished confidently to make it 3–0.
The result underlined Inter’s strong finish to the season, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches ahead of the Coppa Italia final.
Lazio, meanwhile, suffered only their second defeat in 11 games but will still take positives from recent performances going into their next challenge.
