Serie A: Inter beat Cremonese 4-1

Inter Milan delivered a commanding performance at San Siro on Saturday, storming past Cremonese 4-1 in Serie A.

Lautaro Martinez, Ange-Yoan Bonny, Federico Dimarco, and Nicolo Barella all found the net on a rainy night, keeping Inter firmly in the title hunt.

The victory propels Inter to 12 points, level with Serie A leaders AC Milan, Napoli, and AS Roma, who are set to play their sixth league fixtures on Sunday.

Despite both teams entering the match on nine points, Inter wasted little time asserting dominance.

Martinez broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, calmly finishing unmarked after a precise pass from Bonny. A Dimarco strike shortly after was disallowed for offside, but Inter’s control of the game was evident.

Cremonese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri was called into action, notably denying Henrikh Mkhitaryan as Inter pressed for a second goal.

However, seven minutes before halftime, Bonny rose to meet a Dimarco cross and headed Inter’s second goal into the net.

The second half saw Inter extend their advantage quickly. Dimarco scored a brilliant first-time strike from a corner in the 55th minute, followed by Barella converting Bonny’s clever pass just two minutes later, making it 4-0.

Silvestri continued to make impressive saves, limiting the damage for the visitors.

Former England striker Jamie Vardy made his second league appearance for Cremonese, coming on just before the hour mark.

He played a part in the late consolation goal by Federico Bonazzoli in the 87th minute.

Barella reflected on the win, telling DAZN, “Today we rediscovered the mechanisms that we had lost in recent weeks. To compete in matches like this, everyone must be at peak physical condition, and we were. We controlled possession well and enjoyed the game.”
