Football lovers in Nigeria are in for a historic spectacle as Barcelona Legends prepare to lock horns with African Legends in the much-anticipated Champions Cup showdown scheduled for October 25 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The encounter, packaged by the Attom Foundation in collaboration with ZMB Homes and WGI, will see Barça Legends coach Albert Ferrer parade a star-studded lineup.
Brazilian maestro Ronaldinho, a two-time FIFA World Player of the Year, has officially confirmed his participation.
He will feature alongside former teammates Ludovic Giuly, Javier Saviola, Jesús Angoy, Samuel Okunowo, Marc Valiente, Fernando Navarro, and Roberto Trashorras.
Organisers also teased that even more iconic names will be announced in the coming days.
“Abuja will rock when Barcelona Legends hit Nigeria’s capital city to confront Africa’s Legends, which may see the likes of George Weah, Nwankwo Kanu, Didier Drogba, Jay-Jay Okocha, Kalusha Bwalya, Emmanuel Adebayor, Ike Shorunmu and Abedi Pele,” one of the organisers told Completesports.com.
While the glamour of football takes centre stage, the organisers emphasized that the event is about more than entertainment.
It will also spotlight an important social mission, advocating for the empowerment of the girl child across Africa.
With thousands expected inside the stadium and millions more set to tune in from different media platforms, the Champions Cup promises to deliver both unforgettable footballing memories and a powerful message of change.
