Real Madrid’s Rodrygo rejects Tottenham, eyes bigger club move

Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in signing Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid, but the Brazilian winger appears to have no desire to make the switch to North London.

Despite Spurs making an approach for the 24-year-old, reports suggested Rodrygo isn’t considering a move to the Premier League outfit.

According to FootMercato, Tottenham made an enquiry about a permanent transfer for the Real Madrid attacker this summer.

However, the Brazil international is reportedly not open to joining Thomas Frank’s squad. While the Lilywhites were keen on a potential deal, “no talks are currently ongoing between the two parties.”

Rodrygo’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu remains uncertain after his recent drop in prominence, notably being left on the bench during the Club World Cup, even in the absence of a fully fit Kylian Mbappe. Still, the report indicates the winger is focused either on staying at Real Madrid or securing a move to a “bigger club than Tottenham” should he decide to leave.

The former Santos star is under contract with Los Blancos until 2028 and has been a significant contributor to the club’s success, racking up 270 appearances with 68 goals and 51 assists.

Given his age and pedigree, Real Madrid are unlikely to entertain offers that don’t reflect his market value.

With Rodrygo seemingly uninterested, Tottenham are expected to turn their attention to alternative targets. Liverpool have also been linked with the Brazilian, although they have yet to make a formal approach.

For now, Rodrygo is expected to remain in Madrid unless a top-tier club puts forward an attractive proposal.
