Reports have clarified that Bayern Munich attacker Michael Olise was the player Real Madrid had in mind for their widely reported €150 million move for a “superstar on a par with Cristiano Ronaldo,” even though no formal approach was ultimately made.
Olise, who is tied to Bayern Munich until 2029, remains a central figure in the club’s long-term project and is not considered available for transfer under any circumstances.
The French forward has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the past two seasons, producing 53 goal contributions (22 goals and 31 assists) in 52 competitive matches.
His performances played a key role in Bayern securing a domestic double and establishing him among Europe’s most productive attackers.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez had identified the Bayern star as a serious target.
“I can say with absolute certainty that Florentino Pérez intended to pursue Michael Olise, and representatives of Real Madrid have confirmed this,” Romano revealed on his YouTube channel.
Despite Madrid’s interest, Bayern Munich are said to have acted decisively to shut down any possibility of negotiations.
“FC Bayern have completely shut the door, both behind closed doors and in public, and did not want to enter into any negotiations,” Romano added.
Club president Herbert Hainer reportedly made the stance clear internally, ensuring that Real Madrid never progressed to a formal bid stage.
With Olise off limits, Real Madrid are said to have redirected their attention to Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, submitting a €150 million offer for the Argentine forward.
However, Atlético Madrid immediately rejected the proposal, insisting the striker is protected by a €500 million release clause, in line with Spanish contract regulations that require buyout clauses set at extremely high valuations to deter interest.
Although Madrid may return with an improved bid, they are expected to face competition from Barcelona, who are also monitoring Álvarez’s situation.
