Real Madrid open disciplinary action over Valverde, Tchouameni training ground clash

Real Madrid CF have confirmed the opening of disciplinary proceedings against midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni following an altercation during a first-team training session.

The decision comes after reports of escalating tension between the two players, with a second incident said to have occurred during Thursday’s training.

According to The Athletic, the latest flashpoint began when Valverde made a heavy challenge on Tchouameni, further worsening an already strained situation.

The disagreement reportedly spilled into the dressing room, where it is claimed teammates had to step in to separate those involved. During the incident, Valverde is said to have fallen and struck his head on a table, prompting a hospital visit.

In an official statement, Real Madrid said, “The club will announce the resolutions of both cases in due course, once the corresponding internal procedures have been completed.”

After medical evaluation, Valverde was discharged and returned home. The club also confirmed that concussion protocols will rule him out of the upcoming match against FC Barcelona.

Real Madrid added in a separate update, “After the tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a cranioencephalic trauma.

“Valverde is at home in good condition and will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, as indicated by medical protocols for this diagnosis.”

The situation reportedly triggered internal crisis discussions within the squad, with General Manager José Ángel Sánchez also present at the meeting as the club sought to address rising tensions.

The incident comes just days ahead of El Clásico on Sunday, a match that could have major implications in the La Liga title race, with a defeat potentially handing the championship advantage to Barcelona.

It is not the first disciplinary issue the club has faced this season.

Defender Antonio Rüdiger previously issued an apology after a heated exchange with a teammate, while Kylian Mbappé was also reported to have had a confrontation with a member of the coaching staff before the 1-1 draw against Real Betis last month.
