Former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, has ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The coronation ceremony took place on Friday at the Ose Meji Temple in the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area, following traditional rites earlier performed at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, where he was handed the symbolic Akoko leaf.
Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to formally present the new monarch with the staff and instrument of office during a grand ceremony at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
The governor, who had been on annual leave, returned to the state on Thursday to personally attend the historic event.
Ladoja’s installation comes after the demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.
