Portuguese club SC Braga have completed the signing of promising Nigerian defender Adebisi Olamikun from Nigeria National League side Inter Lagos.
The 18-year-old becomes the latest talent to leave Inter Lagos for Europe, continuing the club’s growing reputation for developing young players and helping them secure opportunities abroad.
A left-footed centre-back, Olamikun earned widespread recognition as one of the league’s most impressive defenders, with his consistent performances attracting interest from the Portuguese side.
Although neither club disclosed the financial details of the transfer, reports indicate that the teenager has signed a long-term contract.
He has already arrived in Portugal and is expected to begin with Braga’s youth team as he works towards earning a place in the senior squad.
SC Braga have a notable history of signing Nigerian players. Former Super Eagles defenders Uche Agbo and Elderson Echiejile are among the most prominent names to have represented the club.
Agbo spent half a season with Braga, while Echiejile enjoyed a four-year spell, during which he helped the club lift the Portuguese League Cup.
Other Nigerians to have featured for Braga include Kazeem Kareem, Abiodun Agunbiade, Chidi Osuchukwu and Joseph Samson.
According to Transfermarkt, Olamikun is the eighth Nigerian to join the three-time Portuguese league champions.
As he embarks on his first experience in European football, the young defender will be aiming to impress the coaching staff and secure a promotion to Braga’s first team.
