The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully rescued Abdullahi Isah Nagari, who was abducted by armed bandits on January 29, 2026, in Tsafe Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the victim was discovered tied to a tree with a machete cut injury on his hand.
He revealed that the rescue operation was carried out jointly by police and military personnel, who acted promptly after receiving a report of the abduction.
Abubakar said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators, adding that security patrols in the area have been intensified to prevent further incidents.
The spokesman further noted, “This recent rescue is part of a larger effort by security forces to combat banditry in Zamfara State.”
He also stated that the rescued man has been taken to the General Hospital in Tsafe for medical attention.
The Police Command urged residents to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies for immediate action.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, has reassured the public of the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property across the state.
This comes amid a spate of kidnappings and attacks in Zamfara in recent months. Notably, in November 2025, the Nigerian Air Force carried out airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Tsafe, neutralizing dozens of terrorists and destroying critical infrastructure.
Earlier in January 2026, security forces rescued 36 abducted persons in Shinkafi Local Government Area, highlighting continued efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
