The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four men suspected of involvement in armed robbery and kidnapping operations in the state.
Spokesman for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Tuesday that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area on September 24, 2025, where the suspects were apprehended.
Those arrested are identified as Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam, and Onyebuchi Udemba, all aged between 22 and 40 years.
Ikenga said: “During the operation, police recovered one pump-action gun and a black Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK 835 FC from the suspects.”
He noted that the men are still being interrogated, but assured that they would be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the command’s stance on crime prevention in the state. “We are determined to ensure that criminal elements have no hiding place in Anambra. We urge residents to continue to provide timely and useful information to assist the police in tackling crime,” Orutugu said.
The police further disclosed that the suspects are linked to earlier cases of abduction in Awka and its environs, where victims were reportedly held in a bush in Ugwuoba, Enugu State, and released after ransom payments.
The case is expected to be charged to court soon.
