The Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State has issued a stern warning to motorists to avoid drunk driving and other risky behaviours during Valentine’s Day celebrations.
State Sector Commander Adelaja Ogungbemi delivered the warning in a statement signed by the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Peter Longsan.
He said the directive aligns with the Corps Marshal’s instructions to ensure maximum road safety and prevent loss of life during festivities.
“We will not tolerate drunk driving, speeding, or reckless driving. Enforcement actions will be taken against offenders,” Ogungbemi said.
He emphasised that continuous education of motorists on road safety remains a priority and urged drivers to exercise caution.
“The Plateau Sector Command is calling on all road users to prioritise safety and avoid behaviours that could endanger themselves or others. Members of the public are also encouraged to report any incidents to the FRSC through our official contact channels,” he added.
The Corps’ warning comes as part of wider efforts across Nigeria to reduce road accidents during high-traffic periods, including festive celebrations.
