Nigerian content creator Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi, popularly known as Officer Woos, has dismissed viral social media claims alleging that he announced the death of fellow skit maker Broda Shaggi, describing the reports as false and defamatory.
The controversy began after an X (formerly Twitter) user circulated a post claiming that Officer Woos had shared news of Broda Shaggi’s death on his Instagram page. The post, which included Broda Shaggi’s photo, quickly spread across social media, triggering confusion and concern among fans.
In response, Officer Woos publicly debunked the claim via his Instagram Story, writing simply: “False.”
His legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, later issued a formal statement condemning the viral allegation and warning against further circulation of the claim.
The lawyers said: “It has come to our client’s attention that certain unverified and anonymous social media pages have published claims alleging that our client publicly announced the death of a close colleague on his official page. Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his platforms. These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.”
The statement further clarified that Officer Woos has also been linked to another false allegation suggesting he was arrested over drug-related offences.
“We hereby unequivocally state that both claims are entirely false, fabricated, and without any basis whatsoever. Our client has never been arrested, investigated, charged, or in any way connected to allegations of drug trafficking, at any point in 2025 or at any other time,” the legal team added.
The firm warned that individuals responsible for spreading the rumours could face legal consequences under Nigerian defamation and cybercrime laws. It also demanded an immediate retraction and a public apology within 48 hours from those behind the posts.
The latest rumour comes months after a separate false report claimed Broda Shaggi had been shot during a film shoot in Ogun State, an incident that was later debunked.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Broda Shaggi nor Officer Woos has confirmed any such incident, and both remain active on social media.
