Bayern Munich defender, Jonathan Tah, has revealed that he has no regrets about choosing to represent Germany over the Ivory Coast at the international level.
Tah, whose father hails from Ivory Coast, explained that he was approached by the African nation at just 17 years old but turned down the invitation.
Speaking ahead of Germany’s final qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Tah emphasized that his choice was personal and heartfelt.
“For everyone, it is an individual decision, and everyone sees it differently. For me it is a decision of the heart,” Tah said at a press conference.
Reflecting on the moment he rejected the Ivory Coast’s offer, he added, “It did not take long. It happened when I was 17 (and was approached by the Ivory Coast). I quickly said no. I was going through all the German national youth teams and I wanted to play for Germany. It was an individual decision and I see it as a decision of the heart.”
