Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos believes that nine of his teammates are strong contenders for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, highlighting the depth of talent at the French club.
The Brazilian defender also praised Ousmane Dembele, saying that if the Barcelona forward lifts the prestigious award, it would be fully deserved.
The winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or is set to be revealed next week in Paris, France. Dembele faces stiff competition from stars such as Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah, and Vitinha.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Marquinhos said, “I have nine PSG players nominated, which makes choosing very difficult. If Ousmane wins the Ballon d’Or, it will be completely deserved.”
Last year, Manchester City midfielder Rodri claimed the 2024 Ballon d’Or, edging out Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.
This year’s race is considered one of the most competitive in recent memory, with PSG’s dominance in Europe strengthening their players’ case for football’s top individual honour.
