Nigerian professional wrestler Isaac Odugbesan, widely known as Oba Femi, produced a stunning WrestleMania debut on Sunday by defeating 10-time WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in under five minutes.
The high-profile clash, one of the marquee bouts at WrestleMania 42, ended in shock fashion as the 27-year-old Nigerian star overpowered the seasoned veteran to claim a statement victory.
In a moment that fuelled retirement speculation, Lesnar reportedly left his wrestling gear inside the ring after the contest — an act often interpreted in professional wrestling as a farewell signal.
Oba Femi, nicknamed “The Ruler,” is a former NXT Champion and has spent just three months on WWE’s main roster, yet delivered a breakthrough performance on the grandest stage.
The match opened with both men exchanging early displays of strength, with Lesnar briefly taking control through his trademark offensive bursts.
Femi, however, weathered the storm and gradually turned the tide, showcasing resilience and power to swing momentum in his favour.
Although Lesnar landed an F5 during the encounter, Femi recovered quickly, responded with a chokeslam, and sealed the win with his “Fall From Grace” sit-out powerbomb for a pinfall victory.
The upset immediately sparked intense reactions across social media, with fans debating the implications of the result and Lesnar’s post-match gesture.
A former shot put athlete, Femi has quickly risen through WWE’s ranks, becoming a two-time NXT Champion and a one-time NXT North American Champion.
Born in Lagos, Odugbesan competed in athletics during his school years before joining WWE in 2021 through its NIL programme.
He went on to capture the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament and the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, cementing his rapid ascent in the company.
During the WrestleMania Sunday post-show, Femi also directed attention toward Roman Reigns, known as the “Original Tribal Chief,” drawing a strong crowd reaction as he teased a potential title challenge before the end of the year.
