NFF to mark Moses Simon’s 100th Super Eagles cap

Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon, is set to reach a major milestone on Friday as the Nigeria Football Federation prepares to honour him for making his 100th appearance for the national team.

Simon will earn his century of senior international caps if he features against Madagascar in Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture.

The Nantes forward made his Super Eagles debut on March 25, 2015, and has since established himself as a regular member of the national team.

He currently has 99 appearances and 12 goals for Nigeria.

Of his 99 appearances, Nigeria have recorded 49 victories, 30 draws and 20 defeats in matches in which Simon has featured.

The 30-year-old has played 64 competitive matches and 35 friendlies for the Super Eagles.

He has also represented Nigeria 23 times at the Africa Cup of Nations and featured in 22 World Cup qualifying matches.

One of his memorable early contributions came during Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign against Swaziland, now Eswatini. After the first leg ended goalless in Mbabane, Simon scored a 22-yard free-kick in the return leg in Port Harcourt to help the Eagles secure a 2-0 victory.

Ahead of the landmark appearance, the NFF Acting General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, praised Simon’s contribution to Nigerian football and described him as a dedicated servant of the national team.

“I can testify that Moses Simon is an incredible player and a wonderful human being, having related with him at close quarters for several years. He is a patriot to the core, and forever passionate and dedicated to the Nigeria cause. The NFF celebrates him on this special occasion and wish him many more caps with the Super Eagles.” Ikpeme said.
