NAF clears air on alleged Burkina Faso airspace violation

The Nigerian Air Force has addressed reports regarding the detention of one of its C-130 military aircraft in Burkina Faso, clarifying that the plane made a safe precautionary landing due to a technical issue.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, explained that the aircraft was on a ferry mission to Portugal when the crew identified a technical problem shortly after departing from Lagos.

Titled “Safe Precautionary Landing of NAF C-130 Aircraft in Burkina Faso,” the statement revealed that the plane was diverted to Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, as the closest available airfield, in accordance with international aviation safety protocols.

“All crew members and passengers are safe and have received cordial treatment from Burkinabe authorities,” the NAF assured.
