NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist hideouts in Sambisa

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has disclosed that its recent counter-terrorism air operations in Borno State targeted identified terrorist enclaves and logistics hubs in Biramiri, located within the Gezuwa axis of the state.

The military said the operation, carried out in the Sambisa Forest region, followed credible intelligence gathered through surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the coordinated airstrikes successfully hit strategic terrorist facilities and neutralised several insurgents.

“The coordinated attacks destroyed key terrorist facilities and neutralised several fighters, further crippling the operational capacity of the insurgents,” Ejodame stated.

He explained that the sustained bombardments across the Sambisa axis had continued to disrupt terrorist activities, creating uncertainty and panic among insurgent groups operating in the area.

According to him, intelligence assessments revealed increasing confusion and apprehension among the fighters, as continuous military offensives had restricted their movement and denied them safe operational bases.

Ejodame reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to sustaining pressure on terrorist networks in the North-East.

“The NAF, in concert with troops of Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies, remains resolute in maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist networks while reinforcing its commitment to protecting innocent lives and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East,” he said.

The latest operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to weaken insurgent strongholds and restore stability to communities affected by terrorism in the region.
