Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has alleged that a coordinated group is attempting to damage his reputation by taking advantage of his wife, actress Regina Daniels’ health condition.
Nwoko made the claims in a statement issued by his Communication and Technical Action Team and shared with journalists in Abuja on Monday.
The senator said certain individuals who have targeted him for years are using recent developments in his marriage to create false narratives aimed at discrediting him locally and internationally.
According to him, “A syndicate of pull-down-Ned group is exploiting the health challenges of a young woman to smear my name. They know they have no case against me, so they are manipulating an already delicate situation.”
He also addressed reports suggesting he was involved in land grabbing in his community, describing such allegations as baseless.
“Beyond this, the talk about me grabbing land in my hometown is false and unfortunate,” he stated. “I made a legitimate request and offer for a parcel of land to establish the University of Sports, which is currently serving the community.”
Nwoko further claimed that Regina had openly discussed struggles with substance use in the past and that her medical history was known.
He said, “She admitted to using drugs and said she was on bipolar medication. Her medical records are verifiable. Those pushing a false narrative to damage my reputation will have to prove their claims.”
The senator insisted that anyone using Regina’s vulnerable state to pursue political or personal vendettas would face legal consequences. He noted that despite the rumors circulating online, no credible allegations had been brought against him.
“If she had any secrets to reveal, she would have done so. She has nothing,” he remarked. “These fabricated stories amount to criminal defamation.”
Nwoko also clarified issues surrounding Regina’s age at the time of their marriage. According to him, Daniels was 19 years old when they wed.
“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, then she married at 19, not 17,” he said, adding that her mother gave full consent to the union.
He maintained that their marriage had been transparent, public, and conducted according to cultural traditions.
“It is disheartening to see my marriage twisted into a tool for political blackmail,” he said. “This is a witch-hunt that has been ongoing for years, aimed at stopping my developmental projects and discrediting me now that I am a senator.”
