Milan set to extend Chukwueze’s contract

Nigeria international, Samuel Chukwueze’s impressive start to the new Serie A campaign has reportedly prompted AC Milan to consider extending his contract beyond its current 2028 expiry date.

The 27-year-old winger has started all three of Milan’s league matches this season after manager Ruben Amorim deployed him in a new right-sided wing-back role.

Chukwueze has contributed two assists, setting up Adrien Rabiot for the opener against Torino before providing the assist for Alphadjo Cisse against Juventus last weekend.

His performances have reportedly convinced Milan to open discussions with his representatives over a possible contract extension.

Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira reports that the Rossoneri are ready to negotiate a new deal that could keep Chukwueze at San Siro until 2031.

Chukwueze’s current contract with Milan runs until June 2028, although formal negotiations over an extension have yet to begin.

The proposed new deal would represent a significant change in fortunes for the Nigerian, who has struggled for regular playing time since joining the Italian giants from Villarreal in July 2023.

The winger spent last season on loan at Fulham amid speculation that he could leave Milan permanently.

However, his strong performances at the start of the current campaign appear to have altered the situation.

Amorim has also spoken positively about Chukwueze since taking charge, with the Nigerian now looking to maintain his form and establish himself as an important part of Milan’s plans.

His two assists in the opening three league games have given him what is being regarded as his strongest start to a season since moving to Italy.
