Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan, with the deal including an obligation for Spurs to make the transfer permanent for £60 million next summer.
The 27-year-old Egypt international is set to move to north London after struggling to secure regular first-team football at Manchester City since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Marmoush joined City in January 2025 for £59 million following an impressive spell in the Bundesliga.
However, competition for places, particularly with Erling Haaland leading the attack, limited his opportunities at the Etihad Stadium.
The Egyptian featured as a second-half substitute during City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal but was left on the bench throughout their Premier League opener, a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth.
Overall, Marmoush scored 16 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions for City.
He found the net eight times in 36 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign, but his involvement in the Premier League was significantly reduced.
He started only eight league games, playing around 700 minutes and finishing the season with three goals and three assists.
His switch to Tottenham now offers Marmoush the opportunity to play more regularly and regain the form that made him one of the Bundesliga’s standout forwards.
Marmoush’s versatility appeals to Spurs
Marmoush’s ability to operate in several attacking positions is expected to give Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi another option in the final third.
While he is primarily a centre-forward, the Egypt international has also played as a second striker and on the left wing.
He was frequently deployed through the middle at Frankfurt, while City also used him in wider positions and behind another forward.
His flexibility could prove particularly useful to Tottenham, with Dominic Solanke having struggled with injuries over the last 18 months and Richarlison entering the final year of his contract.
Marmoush is also capable of dropping deeper to receive possession, switching positions and exploiting spaces created when defenders are drawn out of position.
Tottenham have already invested heavily in their squad this summer, with their spending reportedly surpassing £312 million.
Their recruitment has included the arrival of Savio from Manchester City as Spurs continue to rebuild under De Zerbi.
If completed permanently for £60 million next summer, Marmoush would become another major addition to Tottenham’s attacking ranks.
For the Egyptian forward, the move represents an opportunity to revive his career momentum and establish himself as an important figure in north London.
