LSSTF deploys monitoring team to track security assets in Lagos

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund, has deployed a Monitoring Team to strengthen accountability and transparency in the use of security assets across the state.

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Fund, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, formally inaugurated the team on Monday at the LSSTF headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, charging members to ensure strict compliance with guidelines governing security equipment provided to law enforcement agencies.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the LSSTF media consultant, Samson Oki, Ogunsan said the move was part of broader efforts to improve oversight of public and private resources committed to security in Lagos.

According to him, the Monitoring Team is expected to ensure value for money and responsible utilisation of all assets supplied to security agencies operating in the state.

“This Monitoring Team is not ceremonial. You are being deployed to enforce compliance, ensure accountability and confirm that every asset provided is used strictly for its intended purpose,” Ogunsan said.

He added that public trust in the Fund depended largely on how well it safeguarded and accounted for resources entrusted to it by the government, corporate organisations and private donors.

“The credibility of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund rests on our ability to account for donations and support received. Your assignment is critical to sustaining donor confidence and improving security outcomes for Lagos residents,” he said.

At the event, a security expert, Mr Adeniran Israel Samson, was unveiled as the Head of the Field Operations Office of the Monitoring Team. An operational vehicle was also handed over to the team to enhance mobility and efficiency during field assignments.

Ogunsan noted that the deployment fulfilled a commitment he made earlier this month during a strategic media engagement with senior editors and media executives, where he pledged to tighten monitoring mechanisms within the Fund.

He reiterated that the LSSTF would continue to prioritise transparency to ensure that “every naira donated translates into tangible improvements in safety and security across Lagos State.”
