Lookman clears out Atalanta locker as Inter move tension rises

Super Eagles striker, Ademola Lookman, has taken a bold step towards sealing a summer switch to Inter Milan by clearing out his locker at Atalanta’s training base in Zingonia, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The 27-year-old, who was recently crowned African Player of the Year, has reportedly handed in a formal transfer request in a bid to force a move to the Serie A giants before the transfer window shuts.

In a heartfelt message shared via Instagram over the weekend, Lookman shed light on his reasons for seeking an exit, citing “broken promises” from the Atalanta hierarchy and alleging mistreatment “as a human being and as a professional footballer.”

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi responded to the development, acknowledging that there was an informal understanding in place to let Lookman leave this summer, but not to any Serie A rival.

This clause significantly complicates the player’s desired move to Inter.

In what appears to be a show of defiance, the Nigerian international has missed two consecutive training sessions.

Reports from Sky Sport Italia, relayed by Football Italia, also reveal that Lookman’s personal effects have already been removed from his locker at the club’s facility, signaling what the outlet described as a “total break-up” between the player and Atalanta.

It remains uncertain how the transfer saga will unfold, but tensions between Lookman and the Bergamo-based club seem to have reached a critical point.
