Leeds exploited Chelsea’s young squad to snatch draw – Ex-German striker

Leeds United forward and Germany international, Lukas Nmecha, believes Chelsea’s youth made them vulnerable in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Chelsea initially took control, going 2-0 up after Cole Palmer set up Joao Pedro for his sixth goal under manager Rosenior, before Pedro earned a penalty that Palmer calmly converted.

However, Leeds staged a stunning comeback. The visitors earned a penalty when Moises Caicedo fouled Jayden Bogle, allowing Nmecha to slot home. Later, a defensive lapse let Noah Okafor tap in the equalizer and secure a point for Leeds.

Reflecting on the match and Chelsea’s current squad, Nmecha told TNT Sports: “They’re really good in midfield, overloading us and finding pockets. We tried to press them but they found good solutions.

“We tried to choke them out and it worked. A point here is very respectable. They’re very talented, but they’re still a young group. We tried to use the momentum and just smother them.”

Leeds will face Hull next in the FA Cup, while Chelsea host 19th-placed Burnley.

After that, the Blues face a daunting run, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Newcastle in their next six games.
