Chelsea set a new Premier League record despite their 2-1 defeat to defending champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The visitors made a flying start when summer signing Morgan Rogers found the net just two minutes after kick-off.
Arsenal responded strongly, with former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz restoring parity before captain Martin Ødegaard completed the comeback to secure a third straight league victory for the Gunners this season.
Despite the loss, Chelsea achieved a notable milestone through Rogers’ early strike.
The goal made them the first team in Premier League history to score within the opening five minutes in each of their first three matches of a season.
The Blues had also started their previous two league games quickly. João Pedro put them ahead after just one minute in their 3-2 victory over Fulham, while Roméo Lavia scored in the fourth minute of their 4-3 win against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Chelsea’s defeat extended their poor recent record against Arsenal.
The Blues have now gone without a Premier League victory over the Gunners since August 22, 2021, when they won 2-0 at the Emirates under Thomas Tuchel, with Romelu Lukaku and Reece James getting the goals.
Arsenal have since remained unbeaten in their last 10 league meetings with Chelsea and have avoided defeat in their last 12 matches across all competitions.
