The Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has appealed to the public for assistance in locating a TikTok user who recently shared a video alleging she was sexually assaulted in her apartment.
The agency appealed on Tuesday through its official social media platforms, stating that it was making efforts to contact the young woman to provide support and begin appropriate intervention.
The video, which has circulated widely online, triggered a wave of reactions and the hashtag calling for stronger action against sexual violence.
In the clip, the woman, identified on TikTok as Mirabel, narrated that the incident allegedly occurred on Sunday, adding that she later shared the experience online after recovering from the shock.
She said she initially thought someone familiar had knocked on her door before she was allegedly attacked.
“I thought it was my neighbour,” she said. “When I opened the door, I was pushed back and hit my head.”
The agency confirmed it had taken notice of the viral post and was working to reach her.
“We are actively making efforts to contact the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention, and to ascertain her location,” the statement read.
It urged anyone with credible information that could help officials reach her safely to contact the agency through its verified communication channels.
The agency also reiterated that reports of sexual violence are treated with confidentiality and urgency, stressing that survivors deserve protection, care and justice.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the case had been referred to the command’s Gender Unit.
“I have also reached out to her through her TikTok handle. I sincerely hope she responds so we can conduct a thorough investigation,” she said.
The development comes days after another TikTok user reported a separate rape allegation following a modelling engagement in Lagos.
The second survivor said she later received assistance after the case was referred to the Gender Unit in Ikeja with support from a lawyer linked to the family of Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall.
