Lagos nursing school conducts entrance exam for new intakes

Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, recently held its annual entrance examination for candidates seeking admission into the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Computer Assisted Screening exercise was conducted on Saturday at the college premises, attracting a large number of aspirants who had previously written the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examinations.

Ahead of the test, LASCON Provost, Dr Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa, reminded candidates that only those who scored 200 and above in JAMB and listed the college as their first choice were eligible to participate.

She emphasized the institution’s commitment to a rigorous, merit-based admission process.

“The nursing profession is not for the faint-hearted. Only candidates who are capable and fit to undertake the course will be admitted,” Ogunmuyiwa declared. “We are determined to produce competent nurses who can compete globally and contribute to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system.”

She encouraged candidates to take the screening seriously, assuring them that LASCON has the necessary human and material resources to train world-class professionals.

Comrade Awojide Olurotimi, a member of the college’s Governing Council, also commended the smooth conduct of the exercise.

He praised both staff and students for maintaining order despite the large turnout, highlighting that the peaceful atmosphere reinforced the credibility of the process.

The entrance exam represents the initial stage of the selection process for aspiring nursing students.

Candidates who pass this phase will advance to further screenings and interviews before final admission.
