The Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court has convicted several motorists for violating traffic laws during an enforcement operation in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The exercise, carried out at Haruna on March 17, 2026, led to the arraignment of multiple offenders accused of breaching provisions of the state’s transport regulations, including driving against traffic and making illegal turns.
According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, the court reviewed the cases and delivered rulings based on applicable laws.
“After reviewing the cases, the court delivered its judgments in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law,” the statement noted.
Among those arraigned, Onasanya Daniel faced charges bordering on one-way driving and illegal U-turns. His case was adjourned until April 21, 2026, for trial.
Omowunmi Babatunde, who was charged with similar offences, was found guilty and handed a penalty that included a ₦200,000 fine, alongside an additional ₦20,000 fine or one month of community service.
In another case, Olayemi Oluwabamigbe was charged on two counts.
While one charge was contested, the other was admitted, prompting the court to adjourn proceedings to May 5, 2026.
Two other offenders, Olufemi Opadeji and Alabi Akinoluwa, were convicted on both counts of driving against traffic and making illegal U-turns. The court imposed fines of ₦200,000 for the first count and ₦20,000 or one month of community service for the second.

The prosecution team was led by Olufemi Adekunle, with support from Oluwabusola Omotunde, representing the state.
The Ministry of Justice stressed the importance of the mobile court system in maintaining order on Lagos roads.
“The Mobile Court remains a vital mechanism for the prompt dispensation of justice in traffic-related offences across the state,” the statement said.
It also urged motorists to comply with traffic rules, warning that violations would continue to attract strict legal consequences.
“Motorists are advised to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and conduct themselves responsibly, as offenders will be prosecuted in line with the law,” the ministry added.
