Ladoja vows swift action on Olubadan chieftaincy vacancies

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has assured Ibadan residents that he will promptly fill all vacant positions within the Olubadan traditional chieftaincy hierarchy.

Oba Ladoja made the pledge on Monday while receiving the Asipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, at his Lagos residence.

The meeting marked one of his first public engagements since the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

Speaking through his media aide, Adeola Oloko, Ladoja expressed deep respect for the late monarch, describing him as a man who served Ibadanland with honour and dedication.

“I was not in Ibadan when Kabiyesi Olakulehin joined his ancestors on Monday, July 7, 2025,” he said. “But his memory remains fresh in our hearts. He lived an impactful life and gave a good account of himself as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

Oba Olakulehin passed away at the age of 90, just days before the first anniversary of his coronation.

Ladoja noted that the process of filling existing vacancies in the chieftaincy line would not be stalled under his leadership. “There will be no delay in addressing all pending appointments in the Olubadan traditional structure,” he stated.

The assurance comes amid expectations within Ibadanland for continued stability and respect for the traditional succession process.
