Real Betis saw their winless run in La Liga stretch to four matches, but they fought back from an early setback to secure a vital 1–1 draw against Celta Vigo at Estadio La Cartuja.
The visitors struck first just four minutes into the contest when Ferran Jutglà unleashed a low drive from outside the box.
Álvaro Valles managed to get a hand to the effort, but the ball still crept over the line to give Celta an early lead.
Celta continued to look dangerous in attack, with Pablo Durán and Jutglà both testing the Betis defence, although neither could add to the scoreline.
At the other end, Betis’ best opportunity before the break fell to Cucho Hernández, but his effort was blocked, drawing frustrated whistles from the home supporters.
The match soon became scrappy as both sides struggled with misplaced passes and poorly timed tackles.
However, Celta maintained their physical presence in midfield, with Marcos Alonso and Óscar Mingueza driving their team forward.
Betis threatened late in the first half but were wasteful in front of goal. Abde Ezzalzouli missed two clear chances, including a header comfortably gathered by Ionuț Radu, while Aitor Ruibal and Marc Bartra also came close.
The hosts found their equaliser shortly after the restart. A perfectly weighted pass from Ruibal released Héctor Bellerín, who calmly lifted the ball over Radu to score his first La Liga goal for Betis.
That goal sparked the home side into life as Bellerín and Junior Firpo pushed forward down the flanks in search of a winner.
Celta responded by making a triple substitution around the hour mark, though Jutglà was later forced off after suffering a head injury during a collision.
The game opened up in the closing stages, with both teams pressing for a decisive goal. Borja Iglesias thought he had snatched victory for Celta with eight minutes remaining, only for the offside flag to rule out his strike. Moments later, Ruibal came close for Betis, but Radu produced a superb full-stretch save.
The draw keeps Betis in fifth place in La Liga, three points ahead of sixth-placed Celta Vigo as both sides continue their push for European qualification next season.
