Osasuna snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo at the Estadio Abanca-Balaídos on Friday, handing the home side their first defeat at the ground since November.
The game-winning moment came in the 79th minute when Raúl García de Haro capitalized on Alejandro Catena’s clever knockdown, side-footing the ball into the far corner to spark celebrations among the visiting fans.
Earlier, Ante Budimir had put Osasuna ahead just before halftime with his 11th goal of the season, a finish that rewarded his team’s persistent pressure.
Celta responded early in the second half, with Borja Iglesias converting a penalty eight minutes after the restart to level the scores and give the home crowd hope.
Despite their efforts, Celta could not find a way back, extending their winless run to four games across all competitions and leaving them in seventh place. Osasuna, meanwhile, climbed to eighth, closing the gap between the two sides to just four points.
Reflecting on the victory, Budimir said, “This is our second consecutive away win. We competed very well, and this result is a reward for our hard work.”
The win marks another milestone for Osasuna’s impressive run on the road, demonstrating their resilience and ability to secure points in tight encounters.
Celta, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly if they are to maintain their position in the top half of La Liga.
