La Liga: Osasuna stun Sevilla 2-1

Osasuna snatched a dramatic late victory at El Sadar, coming from behind to beat Sevilla 2-1 in their LaLiga Round 32 clash in front of 20,541 fans in Pamplona.

After a quiet first half, Sevilla broke the deadlock in the 69th minute. A sharp turnover by Rubén Vargas sparked the move, with Lucien Agoumé and Djibril Sow combining neatly before Sow’s pinpoint delivery found Neal Maupay, who nodded home from close range.

The hosts responded with urgency and were rewarded 10 minutes from time. Substitute Raúl García de Haro made an instant impact, firing home from inside the box to bring Osasuna level.

With momentum on their side, Osasuna pushed for a winner and found it in stoppage time.

Valentín Rosier’s throw-in initiated the move, and Moi Gómez delivered a superb cross that Alejandro Catena met with a powerful header, sealing a memorable turnaround.

Osasuna dominated much of the contest, finishing with 61 percent possession and outshooting Sevilla 15-8, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on target.

Their attacking intent was reflected in 11 efforts from inside the box and four clear-cut chances, while their expected goals of 1.44 comfortably outweighed Sevilla’s 0.42.

Alessio Lisci’s substitutions proved decisive. Moi Gómez impressed off the bench, completing 22 of 23 passes and providing the assist, while García de Haro’s equaliser capped a lively cameo after his 71st-minute introduction.

Sevilla were disrupted by injuries, losing both Sow and Vargas in the second half, and despite late introductions including Juanlu Sánchez and Nemanja Gudelj, they were unable to regain control.

Catena delivered a standout performance, not only scoring the winner but also contributing defensively with 10 clearances and strong aerial presence.

Jon Moncayola and Víctor Muñoz also impressed for the hosts, while Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos kept his side in contention with five saves.

In the end, Osasuna’s persistence paid off, and their dominance was rewarded with a late winner that sent El Sadar into celebration.
