Osasuna scored a stoppage-time equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw against Athletic Club in their La Liga encounter at the Estadio El Sadar on Saturday.
Athletic appeared to be heading for all three points after Nico Williams broke the deadlock in the 84th minute, but Alejandro Catena struck in the 90th minute to rescue a point for the hosts.
Williams put the visitors ahead with a right-footed finish following a swift counterattack, ending a largely cagey contest that had produced no goals in the first half.
However, Osasuna refused to give up and continued to push forward in search of an equaliser.
Their persistence paid off when Catena found space inside the box and fired home in the closing moments to send the home supporters into celebration.
Athletic had enjoyed greater possession and created the clearer scoring opportunities, recording 61 per cent of the ball and registering an expected goals figure of 2.09 against Osasuna’s 0.65.
Despite their attacking superiority, the visitors were unable to protect their advantage, while Osasuna’s determination and late pressure helped them secure a share of the spoils.
Athletic defender Dani Vivian was named the best player of the match after an impressive display, completing 80 of his 83 passes, winning defensive duels and making nine clearances.
Catena also delivered a notable performance for Osasuna, combining his late equaliser with three successful tackles, two blocks and two interceptions.
The result means both sides settled for a point after a dramatic finish to their LaLiga Round 12 fixture.
