Barcelona continued their impressive start to the La Liga season on Sunday, defeating Levante 4-2 away from home to extend their winning run to five league matches.
The reigning Spanish champions entered the game on the back of a 5-1 Champions League victory over Feyenoord and quickly took control of proceedings against a Levante side that had been unbeaten at home in eight matches.
Barcelona opened the scoring through Xavi Espart, who advanced from the left-back position before firing a right-footed effort from the edge of the box.
The shot took a deflection off several Levante players before beating goalkeeper Matthew Ryan.
The visitors doubled their advantage shortly afterwards when Raphinha raced into the box, rounded Ryan and delivered a low pass across goal for Lamine Yamal, who made no mistake from close range.
Yamal added his second of the afternoon shortly after the restart, converting a penalty awarded after Aïssa Mandi fouled a Barcelona player.
The goal took the Spain international’s league tally to six for the season.
Levante eventually pulled one back through Ivan Romero after Barcelona failed to deal with a loose ball, before Brugue reduced the deficit further to make it 3-2 and set up a tense finish.
However, Barcelona restored their two-goal advantage when Anthony Gordon completed a fine individual move to seal the victory.
The result lifted Hansi Flick’s side to five consecutive league wins and kept them three points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.
