Atlético Madrid, seeking a return to winning ways, defeated Real Sociedad 3-0 on Sunday to climb into fourth position in the La Liga table.
The victory came after a difficult spell for the Spanish side, who had suffered a 3-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao in the league before losing 2-1 to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
After a goalless first half at Real Sociedad, Atlético eventually broke the deadlock in the 84th minute when Álex Grimaldo converted from the penalty spot.
Jonathan David then doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 90th minute before Giuliano Simeone completed the scoring five minutes into stoppage time.
The result took Atlético Madrid to 10 points from five matches, leaving them fourth in the standings, two points behind second-placed Real Madrid and five adrift of leaders Barcelona.
Real Sociedad, meanwhile, remained 12th with seven points after suffering their second defeat of the campaign.
