The newly appointed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara State, Abbas Mohammed, has issued a strong warning to criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs, urging them to stay away from the state or face decisive security action.
Speaking during his maiden press briefing in Ilorin shortly after assuming duty as the 16th substantive commandant of the state command, Mohammed said the corps would intensify proactive operations to curb criminal activities and protect lives and critical infrastructure.
“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals,” he declared.
“We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property across the state.”
He stressed that his administration would prioritize intelligence-led policing, collaboration with sister security agencies, and stronger engagement with community stakeholders to maintain peace.
A statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael, also noted that the commandant had reaffirmed the corps’ mandate to safeguard critical national assets and strengthen security operations across the state.
Mohammed further called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and reliable information that could aid operations.
“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and assist security agencies with credible intelligence,” he said.
According to the statement, Mohammed brings over two decades of experience in the corps and previously served as Commandant of Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna before his redeployment to Kwara State following the reassignment of his predecessor, Bala Bodinga, to the national headquarters.
