Kudus fires Ghana to World Cup spot

The Black Stars of Ghana have sealed their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after edging Comoros 1-0 in a tense qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mohammed Kudus emerged as the match-winner, firing home the decisive goal early in the second half to send the home crowd into raptures.

Following a goalless first half where both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances, Ghana returned from the break with greater intent.

Just three minutes after the restart, Thomas Partey unlocked the Comoros defence with a precise through ball that found Kudus, who calmly controlled before blasting a right-footed effort into the top corner.

Comoros fought valiantly to claw their way back into the contest but found it difficult to penetrate Ghana’s solid backline.

The Black Stars maintained composure and discipline in the final minutes to secure a crucial victory that confirmed their qualification.

With the win, Ghana became the fifth African nation to book a ticket to the 2026 World Cup, joining Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia on the continent’s growing list of representatives.
