Kevin Akpoguma to leave Hoffenheim after 12 years

Super Eagles defender, Kevin Akpoguma, is set to depart Bundesliga side Hoffenheim at the conclusion of the ongoing season.

Sky Sport journalist, Florian Plettenberg, reports that both Akpoguma and Hoffenheim have mutually agreed to go their separate ways, bringing an end to a 12-year association with the club.

There is also the possibility of an earlier exit, as a move during the January transfer window could materialise should a suitable offer be made.

“🚨🔵⚪️ 30 y/o Kevin #Akpoguma and Hoffenheim are not planning to extend his expiring contract,” Plettenberg wrote on X.
“Both sides are looking for a change and have discussed this openly. A winter move could become an option if an offer comes in.”

The Nigeria international joined Die Kraichgauer from Karlsruher in 2013 and has since spent over a decade with the club.

Akpoguma has found game time hard to come by this season, making only two appearances for Hoffenheim so far.
