Joshua beat Jake Paul with sixth-round knockout in Miami showdown

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua produced a commanding display on Saturday morning, knocking out YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in the sixth round of their heavyweight contest in Miami.

Joshua’s dominance was evident despite Paul managing to stay on his feet beyond the opening rounds, a feat that surprised some observers.

However, the British boxer’s superior power and ring experience ultimately made the difference.

The turning point came in the fifth round, when Joshua floored Paul twice in quick succession during a frenetic exchange, leaving the American visibly shaken.

Joshua finished the fight in the sixth round, launching a series of heavy punches that overwhelmed Paul and forced the referee to step in and stop the bout.

Reacting after the fight, Joshua shifted focus to a potential clash with longtime rival Tyson Fury, urging him to accept a challenge.

“Put down your Twitter fingers, put on some gloves and come and fight me,” Joshua said.

Paul later disclosed that he sustained a broken jaw during the contest.

He declined to name his next opponent, instead announcing plans to take a break from boxing following the defeat, which is the second loss of his professional career.

Despite the setback, Paul remains ranked 14th in the WBA cruiserweight division and has recorded notable victories over former world champions.

He defeated 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November 2024 and earned a points victory over Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. earlier this year.
