The Independent National Electoral Commission has launched a new Artificial Intelligence-powered virtual assistant to enhance staff training and operational readiness ahead of the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The digital innovation, called the INEC Training Virtual Assistant (INECTrainingBot), was officially introduced on Friday. The tool, hosted on the Telegram platform, is designed to provide 24-hour access to training materials, interactive lessons, and learning modules for electoral officers.
According to the Commission, the initiative aims to make learning more flexible and accessible to all categories of election personnel.
In a post on its official X handle, INEC said, “In preparation for the #AnambraDecides2025 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission is leveraging technology to enhance the capacity of its personnel and stakeholders. We are proud to introduce the INEC Training Virtual Assistant, ‘INECTrainingBot,’ now available on Telegram.”
The Commission added that the virtual assistant would help ensure that its officials are “fully equipped for their critical roles,” describing the platform as user-friendly and convenient for “on-the-go learning.”
Highlighting its features, INEC noted that the tool offers “24/7 accessibility, a user-friendly interface, and on-demand training modules designed to improve operational efficiency.”
Beyond digital training, INEC also announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards for those who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise in Anambra State would run from October 22 to October 26, 2025.
In addition, a mock accreditation exercise is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, across selected polling units in the three senator all districts of the state.
The mock exercise, the Commission explained, will test the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and assess the real-time uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal.
INEC emphasized that these preparatory activities are crucial for ensuring a credible, transparent, and technology-driven election.
“Our goal is to ensure that every aspect of the electoral process, from staff training to result transmission, meets global standards of transparency and efficiency,” the Commission stated.
