The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the collation of results from the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
According to The PUNCH, the exercise covers all 5,718 polling units across the state and is taking place at INEC’s headquarters in Awka under the supervision of the state Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin.
In her opening remarks on Sunday, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Queen Awgu, explained, “This process is to officially declare the outcome of the election conducted across Anambra State.”
The collation follows the completion of sorting and counting of ballots in the largely peaceful election across the state’s 21 local government areas.
As of press time, INEC had uploaded over 99 percent of the results onto its Results Viewing Portal.
The exercise comes amid reports of alleged vote-buying and other electoral irregularities, although authorities have yet to substantiate these claims.
Despite early delivery of election materials to polling units, voter turnout was generally low, even as more residents had collected their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the poll.
