INEC announces PVC collection dates ahead Anambra gov poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced key dates for Permanent Voter Card collection and a mock accreditation exercise ahead of the much-anticipated 2025 Anambra State governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday by Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the Commission said that PVC collection for voters who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise will take place from Wednesday, October 22 to Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The Commission stressed that collection must be done in person at designated Registration Areas, warning that proxy collection will not be permitted.

“This is a critical phase of the electoral process, and we encourage all newly registered voters to take this opportunity seriously,” Eta-Messi said. “Having a valid voter card is the first step in exercising your democratic rights.”

INEC also revealed that it will conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in selected polling units across Anambra’s three senatorial districts. According to the Commission, the purpose of the exercise is to test the functionality and efficiency of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, and the process of uploading election results to the INEC Result Viewing, Portal ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The Commission encouraged residents in the chosen areas to participate actively in the mock accreditation, stating that public feedback will help it fine-tune its logistics and technology deployment.

Reassuring voters and stakeholders of its commitment to a credible election, INEC affirmed that all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure transparency, integrity, and efficiency throughout the electoral process.

“The mock accreditation and PVC collection are both essential to ensuring that election day runs smoothly,” Eta-Messi added. “We are committed to delivering a process that is inclusive, transparent, and reflective of the will of the people.”
